Vernon Elwood McIntosh Sr. "Mac", 71, of Chincoteague Island, VA, passed away Saturday, August 20th, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake, Salisbury, MD.
Vernon was born in Jacksonville, NC on October 23, 1939, the son of the late Mary (Beasley) and Vernon L. McIntosh.
He retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Accomack Lodge # 243 and American Legion Post #159.
He was the widower of Joan McIntosh.
He is survived by a daughter Sharon Guinn and her husband Eddie of Chincoteague Island; a son Vernon E. McIntosh Jr. "Mackie" and his wife Dawn of Chincoteague Island; two grandchildren, Brooke McIntosh of Chincoteague Island, Ashley Thornes of Chincoteague Island; two great granddaughters, Meredith Wright and Natalee Thornes both of Chincoteague Island; two loving sisters and one brother; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary "Sparky" McIntosh.
Friends are invited to call Monday 7-9 PM. at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc. in Chincoteague Island with a Masonic Service at 7:30 PM.
Funeral Service will be held at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., Chincoteague Island, at 2 PM on Tuesday, August 23rd, with Rev. Travis DeLoach officiating.
Interment will be held at John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery Temperanceville, VA.
