Walter Carpenter Obituary

Walter Sealmore Carpenter Jr., passed away Monday, November 22nd, at his residence. .
Walt was born in Wildwood, NJ on September 29, 1932, a son of the late Emma Jane (Jester) Carpenter and Walter Carpenter, Sr.
He served in the U.S. Army as a tank mechanic in Occupied, Germany. He also worked in the family oyster business and was a Chrysler outboard motor dealer. He worked as a Correctional Officer for ECI until he retired. He was an avid carver of shorebirds.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce Carpenter of New Church, VA; seven children Debbie White and her husband Steve of Parsonsburg, MD, Terri Bartrug and her husband Scott of Salisbury, MD, Jennifer VanHart and husband Carroll of Pocomoke, MD, Janie LaCurts and her husband Mike of Gumboro, DE, Angela Schmeckenbecher and her husband John of Suffolk, VA, David Tarr of New Church, VA, Mike Carpenter and his wife Cheryl of Willards, MD; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother Jim Carpenter and his wife Marlene of Chincoteague, VA; one sister Diane Conklin of Chincoteague, VA; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at Sayer Funeral Home, Inc., Chincoteague, VA, at 2 PM on Sunday, November 28th, with Rev. John Thorne officiating. Friends are invited to call one hour prior to service.
Interment will be held at John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery, Temperanceville, VA.
