William Lee Moore, 68, husband of the late Becky Moore and a resident of Chincoteague Island, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at his residence.
William was born in Oyster on Dec. 20, 1940, the son of the late Belvin and Susie (Brady) Moore.
William Lee worked for Edgerton Seafood for over 50 years and was better known as William The Fish Man. He was an honorary member of the American Legion Post # 159 in Chincoteauge.
Mr. Moore is survived by two daughters, Nancy Adams and husband Jim of New Church, and Sara Newman and husband Terry "Toot" of Raeford, N.C.; a son, Willie Moore and wife Joanne of Chincoteague; one brother, Belvin Moore Jr. and his wife Elizabeth; six grandchildren, Roger Lee Adams and his wife Jessica of New Church, Thomas Adams and his wife Ashley of New Church, Chelsea and Kyle Moore of Chincoteague, Taylor and Terrell "Liddle Toot" Newman of Raeford, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Brenna, Savanah, and Austin Adams all of New Church; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thank you to niece Susie Coleman of Cheriton, nephew David Detwiler of Cashville, granddaughter-in-law Jessica Adams of New Church, nephew David Scott Hudson and his wife Dawn of New Church, and sister-in-law Nancy Detwiler of Cashville.
Friends and family are invited to call Salyer Funeral Home this evening, May 20, from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at The Church of God in Chincoteague on Thursday, May 21, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Thorne and the Rev. Raymond Crowley officating.
Interment will follow in The John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperanceville.
