Mr. William "Pete" Thomas Richardson, 88, of Chincoteague Island, VA. went to be with the Lord Monday, December 27th, 2010 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, Nassawadox, VA.
William was born in Wachapreague, VA on April 24, 1922, the son of the late William L. and Mamie (Crosley) Richardson.
He was a life member of the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company, Past President, Past Chief, and was an ambulance driver long before the 911 and EMT concept. He was a member of the American Legion Post #159. He was a longtime mechanic for his own business as well as a Town of Chincoteague employee mechanic. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II patrolling the beaches of Assateague, and barrier Islands of the Eastern Shore of Virginia with a lantern walking up and down.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Ellen Richardson of Chincoteague, VA; daughters, Judy Warren and her husband Larry of Virginia Beach, VA, Reita Lecato and her husband Jerry of Pungoteague, VA, Sharon Yonek and her husband John of Elizabeth City, NC, SueEllen Bowden and her son Avery(Lil Buddy and the Sunshine of his Life) of Chincoteague, VA; sons Kerry Wayne Bowden and his wife Fara of Assawoman, VA, Thomas Lee Bowden and his wife Lisa of Assawoman, VA; ten grandchildren, Chris Warren, Cathy Warren, Jerry Lecato Jr., Angie Lecato Pruitt, Tony Yonek, Debbie Yonek Horton, Sheana Rae Bowden, Maria Weinberg, Joey Weinberg, and Avery Conklin.; Nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a special stepson Corky Bowden Jr.,a brother Veronon (Slim) Richardson, and a sister Mary Richardson Kellam.

Funeral Service will be held at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2 PM on Friday, December 31st, with Rev. Kevin Eley officiating.
Interment at Spence Baptist Church Cemetery Snow Hill, MD.
