William "Bill" Teaf Savage, 88, of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away Monday, November 22, 2010 at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Salisbury, MD.
Born in Chincoteague, VA on October 26, 1922, the son of the late Ernest Henry and Elsie Mae Quillen Savage. Bill was a member of The Church of God and the Masonic Lodge in Chincoteague, VA. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II on the USCGC Nourmahal. Bill lived his entire life on Chincoteague Island, doing what he loved most, working on the water.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosalie Merritt Savage and their daughter Leah Savage Boothe and her husband Brian of Salisbury, MD, two grandsons, David Franklin Boothe and his wife Lisa of Smyrna, DE and Daniel William Boothe and his wife Andrea of Dayton, OH; four great grandchildren Jacqueline, Leah, and Brian Boothe of Smyrna, DE and Charlotte Boothe of Dayton, OH. Bill leaves behind brothers John Savage, Harold Savage and his wife Teenie, Terry Savage and his wife Betty Jean all of Chincoteague, VA; sisters Ernestine Hall and Louise Quillen both of Chincoteague, VA, Elsie Mae Tatum of Cheriton, VA; sister-in-law Izola Savage of Chincoteague, VA; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Robert "Bert" Savage.
Funeral service will be held on November 27, 2010 at 2 PM at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc. in Chincoteague Island, VA with the Rev. Kevin Eley officiating. Family and friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at the John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperanceville, VA.
