William "Bill" Lee Cherrix

William (Bill) Lee Cherrix, 82, of Chincoteague, VA passed away on August 26, 2022. He was born on November 07, 1939, to Jesse Lee and Edna Lewis Cherrix in Accomack County, VA.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Myrna (Von Mumb) Cherrix, son Dwight Cherrix (Tracy), stepchildren Carrie Feron Kelly (Michael) and Nancy Nielsen (Gary), grandson Austin Cherrix, step grandchildren, Jonathan Nielsen, Charlotte Anderer, Elizabeth Brooks (Jacob) and Kathleen Galluscio and numerous cousins on Chincoteague. He was predeceased by his parents and stepdaughter, Kathleen Feron.
Bill loved the water, whether it was clamming, boating, or fishing and always said he never wanted to be too far from the smell of salt water.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at the Salyer Funeral Home, 6327 Church Street, Chincoteague, VA  23336.  Interment will be private.
