William "Bill" Schiavo Obituary

Bill Schiavo passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, at his home in Salisbury, MD, with his children by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 16, 1968, to the late Joseph Anthony and Joan (Weaver) Schiavo in Philadelphia, PA. Bill lived by a belief in hard work and generosity, a trait that passed on to his children and touched all who knew him.

Bill was the beloved father of Stephanie Schiavo Chance (Cory) and Kris Urs-Sheffield (Rachel). He was also the proud Poppy to the light of his world, his granddaughter, Chloe Joan Chance. He was a cherished brother to Laura Schiavo Moore and uncle to Joseph Bass, Caitlyn Moore, Marc Vogt (Lisa), Kevin Waitikowich (Tabitha), and Randy Vogt. He is survived by his aunt, Carole Stowell, and lifelong best friend, Michael McHugh (Megan).

A Monsignor Bonner Catholic High School graduate, Bill’s greatest passion was working with his hands. He best displayed his talents as Superintendent for some of Delmarva’s most prestigious builders, such as Mervin L Blades & Sons, Inc. and most recently, Gillis Gilkerson. He worked hard to provide and build success for his family, even building the very homes that he raised his children in.

Bill’s interests included golfing, boating, and fishing. He was an avid Philly fan and attended as many games as possible with his friends, son, son-in-law, and nephews. He was also his daughter’s number one fan, attending every sporting event she played in throughout her entire life. He did the same for his son, following every basketball game, musical, and graduation. Later in life, he showed the same love and dedication for his granddaughter, never missing a ballet recital, school program, or ball game. He was someone that his friends and family could always count on. Above all, he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and friends.

Bill's life was a testament to the strength of his perseverance. His work not only stands as a reminder of his talent but also as a reflection of his dedication. Bill’s journey on earth has ended, but the memories he created will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
