Yancy Merritt

Mrs. Yancy Bridget Merritt, 38, of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away Tuesday, October 26th, 2010 at her residence.
Yancy was born in Birmingham, AL on May 15, 1972, the daughter of Donald M. Smith of Hanceville, AL and Janice (Cochran) Erikson of Orange Beach, AL.
She was a member of Church of God Chincoteague Island, VA.
She also survived by her husband Larry "Bear" Merritt Jr. of Chincoteague, VA; son Bear Merritt of Chincoteague, VA; two step children, Meranda and Emily Merritt both of Chincoteague, VA; brother Michael E. Smith and his wife Elizabeth of FL; five sisters Donna J. Smith of FL, Diane Martin of FL, Kelli Nichols of AL, Staci Mitchell of TX Rachel Goodloe and her husband T.J. of FL; a mother Sandra Smith of Hanceville, AL;; mother-in-law and father-in-law Larry and Sharon Merritt of Chincoteague, VA; several nieces, nephews,aunts ,uncles, and cousins.
Memorial Service will be held at Church of God, Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2 PM on Thursday, October 28th, with Rev. John Thorne officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to Hospice of Eastern Shore 165 Market Street Onancock, VA 23417.
